Yes, the World Cup Final was on this morning, and although France probably deserved to win, it went to penalty shootouts, and as such, Italy won. As a Second-Generation Australian of German Extraction, who used to study French, seeing all of my bets getting nastily beaten by Italy has been quite disappointing.
Since I don’t want to bore you with the Zidan story, which you undoubtedly know about now, I’ll point out that the Italians tried to reuse their successful tactic used against Australia – diving near the goal with seconds to go, with the intention of getting a free. Today, the ref had none of it…
